Is Your Child Falling Behind? Free Reading Check-Ins for SC Families

Helping Your Struggling Reader

As a parent, nothing is more stressful than seeing your child fall behind in school. If your child is struggling to keep up with their classmates, you may feel like you’re running out of time. At Literacy SC, we believe that every parent deserves a roadmap to help their child succeed.

Signs Your Child Needs Reading Support

Every child learns differently, but there are key indicators that they might need specialized help:

  • They avoid reading out loud or seem frustrated during homework.
  • They struggle to “sound out” simple words they’ve seen before (phonics issue).
  • Their teacher has mentioned they are not meeting “Grade Level” benchmarks.
  • They can read the words but can’t tell you what the story was about (comprehension issue).

The Reading Begins Here Program

Our Reading Begins Here is for the whole family. Let us give you the tools to be their best teacher.

What is a Reading Check-In?

We offer a free, 1:1 Reading Check-In for families statewide. This is a simple, no-pressure virtual Google Meet where you can speak with our family literacy expert.

  • Conversation: We help you identify exactly where the breakdown in reading is happening.
  • Resources: We connect you with specific tools and programs in your zip code.
  • Plan: You walk away with clear next steps to help your child start improving immediately.
