Effective August 5, 2026, the Literacy SC Board of Directors appointed Meredith Gvodzas as Interim Executive Director.

Since joining Literacy SC as Branch Coordinator in October 2025, Meredith has worked closely with learners, tutors, volunteers, staff, and community partners to support the organization’s programs and mission. In her role, she has contributed to branch operations, learner enrollment, instructional programming, volunteer engagement, and community outreach efforts.

Meredith brings a strong understanding of Literacy SC’s mission and a commitment to ensuring learners across South Carolina continue to receive high-quality literacy services. As Interim Executive Director, she will support staff, strengthen community partnerships, and provide operational continuity while the Board of Directors conducts its search for the organization’s permanent Executive Director.

The Board of Directors extends its full support to Meredith and the Literacy SC team as the organization continues advancing its mission of expanding literacy opportunities throughout South Carolina.
