Literacy SC is a debt-free, cash-in-hand nonprofit built for high-impact agility and direct results. Aside from our CEO, every member of our team is a specialist devoted entirely to direct program delivery and learner success. Our roles are hybrid, flexible, and fully resourced, allowing us to remain “mean and lean” while serving the entire state of South Carolina.

Meet Lisa
“Reading well is the cornerstone of dignity and one’s ability to care for themselves. That’s why I built Literacy SC to be a lean, debt-free machine that puts our resources where they belong: our programs. While I handle the big-picture stuff, I make sure nothing gets in the way of our team doing what they do best. I’m here to ensure that when a neighbor in South Carolina is ready to learn, we are ready to teach.”
Past Leaders
Our leadership structure has evolved with varying levels of support. Some years saw entirely volunteer management, others had full-time employees like Ms. Deborah Yoho. Records of leaders during the 1970s-1980s are sparse and confirmed ones have since passed on.
