Overview

Only 6 Hours Monthly | W-2 Role | Non-Exempt |$25 /Hour (Onsite & Remote)

Literacy SC seeks a part-time Family Literacy Instructor to lead literacy support sessions for parents and guardians of K–5 students. This eight-session
community education series will be held at Richland Library – Lower Richland from in September 2025 through May 2026.

Schedule

  • Eight 1-hour, in-person evening sessions (Sep, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May)
  • One hour of instruction monthly and up to five hours of remote prep time per month
  • $25/hour | W-2 Role | Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate one-hour group sessions teaching from Literacy SC’s curriculum
  • Create an engaging, inclusive and respectful space for adult learners
  • Encourage open discussion using research-based guidance
  • Model effective communication techniques and literacy strategies
  • Track attendance and session feedback using online forms
  • Report session outcomes and observations to the CEO

Required Skills

  • High school diploma, high initiative and experience in education, parenting
  • education, or community outreach
  • Strong group facilitation and communication skills
  • Comfortable engaging with diverse populations
  • Familiarity with basic reading concepts (phonics, fluency, comprehension)
  • Organized, reliable, and confident leading structured group conversations
  • Ability to use technology proficiently (e.g. Canva Slides, Google Worksuite)
  • Reliable transportation to designated program sites

Additional Information

  • Background check required and paid for by Literacy SC
  • Laptop, supplies, and all curriculum provided
  • No benefits are included in this part-time position
  • Able to stand and move around classroom for over one hour
  • English fluency required
