Helping Central SC Read Well since 1968
We believe anyone can move up and ahead through the power of reading. So, we teach adults and families practical skills in reading, writing and math to build confidence in daily life.
Our flagship free Turning Pages Adult Reading program teaches adults to read through private tutoring and group classes.
Other low cost workshops follow our learn more, earn more, do more philosophy for growth and confidence.

Kind Words About Us
“Words make me imagine and feel things that I have never experienced. I’ve read six big books this past year! SIX! I’m actually reading! I’ve never done that before.”

Simone
2024 Learner of the Year
“I read words on TV for the first time and understood them!”

George
Turning Pages Learner
“One of my volunteer buddies mentioned how his grandson has been learning how to read. Said it’s been really transformational for him, that they were excited about all the opportunities he was about to have like GED and driving. Seeing him be so genuinely excited for his grandson was beautiful. Y’all are doing great work! “

Kimberly T.
Community Supporter
“As a retired teacher, it’s almost a reflex to volunteer in literacy. Helping others through Turning Pages allows me to give back to my community and help others move forward in life.”
