Sandra Pound is a retired educator and prolific writer who loves traveling, raising day-lilies and peacocks, and visiting with her grandchildren.
Sandra’s love of writing dates back to preschool years. A significant event of preschool is a memory of holding a sheet of paper and thinking it was the most wonderful thing in the world. Another was having her teacher present her with a New Testament with her name inscribed inside inside. She says it was the first time she had seen her name. And, thus, these events set her life in motion: she would become a writer.
“All my life I have been a prolific writer—not a successful one, but a writer who could not stop writing,” says Sandra. “In my twenties, I wrote for the two Lexington County newspapers regularly and made first page once. Over fifty articles have appeared in educational, religious, gardening journals and Bluefish Digest. As an educator, I earned National Board Certification in English and a PhD in Language and Literacy. Over time I presented at numerous local, state, and national teacher conferences.”
Sandra’s published works include:Â
- The Angels’ Greatest Message
- Tammy
- Money, A Novel
- Six Days in Paradise
- Keaton’s Carrots
- Short Stories of a Southern, Middle-Class, Contented, White Woman
- A Lifetime of Verse
- Teaspoons of Wisdom.Â
“Cancer has been a wayside of my life, occurring twice over the years, but,” Sandra reflected. “It does not define me. see myself as a writer.”
